Day Twenty Two - RAIN

After a wonderful breakfast (waffles in the shape of Texas) in our warm and dry hotel, we ventured out into the pouring rain! It rained ALL day! As long as we kept moving, we were just barely able to keep warm, but when we stopped, we would get chilled. We stayed off the highway but Robin got two flats anyway. We had planned to camp, but opted to stay in the only hotel in Luling, TX, which meant 4 more miles of misery for a total of 63 miles today.

Now showered, dried and warm we are ordering Chinese food and having it delivered (it is STILL raining!).

  1. Does not sound like too much fun..wondered when you would get a soaking. Very surprised you were able to get in that many miles with the rotten weather.I was looking up Luling, TX. to see where you were. You missed the big Watermelon Thump held there in June, sorry to say. And,the greatest distance,Guiness Book record for the longest watermelon seed spitting contest:68Ft. 9". You never know when you might need that fact! Looks like great weather the next few days, best of luck!

  2. Sounds like a chapter from Job. Wish it was easier on you both, but then the greater the effort the more wonderful the success.
