Got up early to beat the heat and it was 48 degrees out! Biked 12 miles in the dark to Saragosa for an awesome breakfast at the Farmers Cafe.
The weather was great with plenty of sunshine, cooler temperatures (70's and 80's most of the day), and NO headwind! It was wonderful to cruise along the 68 miles to our destination of Fort Stockton, TX.
We stopped at a Walmart for groceries and met Gerry in the checkout line (apparently he noticed our subtle biking attire). He asked about our trip. The next thing you know he was pulling into our campsite with co2 cartridges, a patch kit and an 8 pack of Gatorade. We had a great time talking with him. What a kind and generous soul!!
We enjoyed a great dinner at camp. As we were cleaning up, one of our RV neighbors stopped over to ask us about our trip. We had a great time talking with Dave as well.
West Texas is big and fairly desolate, but it's people are wonderful! Got to get to bed as tomorrow is another century ride. Praying for tailwinds!
Hi R2 (too bad you didn't name your kids something that started with a D because then we could call your family R2D2! :))
